[March 20, 2004 - Los Angeles Protest]
After walking the protest my energy was really low. Maybe having to
breath the exhaust fumes from the helicopter as it hovered above for
hours is what made me feel weak. The protest was peaceful. One odd thing
though was the increase in number of police that came in all shapes
and sizes. The police were kind of intimidating because they were always
moving in large groups and if something bad were to happen they seemed
a little too prepared for violence wearing bullet proof vests and guns. |
The helicopter was constantly circling over the protesters.
Besides cops with riot helmets on there were also motorcycle cops.
Notice how tightly bunched together the riot control cops are huddled, just like football team.
Some cops spread out and made it look like they were going to trawl the streets.
A whole truckload of riot control cops drove North on Highland across Sunset Blvd.
Here are two local "Hollywood Entertainment District" cops.
There were even two guys from the Army or Navy in the protest crowd.
Here were three police in matching outfits.
Don't they look exhausted after a hard days work being the shepherds of man.

One cop decided to take a nap on top of the police riot control SUV, if a civilian did that wouldn't he be arrested?
Looks like the police have fresh riot control gear this year, new helmets, new jackets.
Even the horses were wearing riot gear eye protection.
